Brigadier E. T. Rowllings, District Commander, Southern Military District, and Brigadier A. E. Conway, AdjutantGeneral, New Zealand Forces, paid a brief visit to Invercargill yesterday on , .official business. They left again for the north in the afternoon. Mr R. W. Cox, chief accountant of the Reserve Bank, is at present visiting Invercargill to make preliminary arrangements for the flotation of the new war loan. He conferred yesterday with the Mayor, Mr A. Wachner, and the town clerk, Mr W. F. Sturman. The Mayor has sent invitations to prominent business men and leading citizens to meet 1 Mr Cox at a meeting to be held in the City Council Chambers at 3 p.m. on Monday. Flying Officer C. W. Gillies, of DunI edin, officer commanding the Dunedin I wing of the Air Training Corps, arrived in Invercargill yesterday and inspected the Invercargill squadron of the A.T.C. last evening. He will return to Dun'edin this afternoon. Mr H. Hl Doughty has been appoint(ed to represent the Gore Chamber of Commerce on the Southland Progress League. Mr A. W. Jones has been appointed the representative of the Stewart Island County Council on the Southland Progress League. I According to last night’s Gazette Grqup Captain J. L. Findlay, M.C., has been promoted acting air-commodore. —P.A. Mr and Mrs D. L. Nimmo, of Nightcaps, have received word by cable that their son training in Canada has received a commission and is now Pilot Officer R. A. Nimmo, also that another son, Pilot Officer G. Nimmo, who is in England, is safe and well.
