RADIO APPEAL NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT
Local arrangements for the Dominionwide radio appeal for patriotic funds next Saturday night were completed at a meeting of the publicity committee of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council yesterday. It was announced that telephone bureaux throughout Southland would be open between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to receive donations, the totals of which would be telephoned to station 4YZ at regular intervals. District figures would be broadcast during the evening, and at arranged times there would be a national link of radio stations for provincial and Dominion totals. It was reported that a number of city office workers had volunteered their services in Invercargill for receiving telephone donations at station 4YZ.
Supplies of comfort coupons have been given to all patriotic collectors who will make a special canvass this week inviting householders to contribute sums ranging from 2/6 to £5OO, which may be earmarked to be spent for a special purpose. It was announced that supplies of window strips for shop windows were being distributed throughout Southland.
