BREAKFAST FOR SOLDIERS OFF LEAVE TRAIN
As a result of a suggestion made at a recent meeting of the executive of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council breakfast is now being provided at the Y.M.C.A. institution, Tay street, for soldiers arriving in Invercargill on Saturday mornings by the leave train from the north.
As it is helpful for those arranging for the meal to. know the number of men likely to visit the institution for breakfast, arrangements have been made to have the information sent by telephone to Invercargill from a station along the line. The work of preparing, cooking and serving breakfast for the men is being done by members of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. and their helpers. Last Saturday morning nine men off the leave train had breakfast at the institution. On the previous Saturday the number was 27.
