RIVERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Riverton Borough Council at its last meeting approved a plan for the proposed alterations of the Riverton borough section of the Tuatapere-Riverton main highway. Exception was taken to the action of the Wallace County Counci 1 in requiring to vote its approval of all petty expenses of the E.P.S. as the recent arrangement of the Riverton E.P.S. boundary being extended one mile and a-half beyond the borough boundary affected the county. The council decided co erect a light in Pitt street. A general complaint about the riding of horses and bicycles on footpaths was referred to the inspector of police. A statement of the estimates of services J_lor the borough amounting to £lB2O was ap-

proved, and the Mayor gave notice of motion that at the next council meeting he would move that a rate of 1 /2 d hospital, l>/ 2 d sinking fund, Aparima bridge, l%d sinking fund gasworks %d sinking fund old loans and what was considered a New Zealand record of general rate (a total of sd) be struck.
