SAFETY OF CHILDREN
Sir,—l have been waiting to hear a call from the Waihopai school to bring picks and shovels to dig trenches for the children. Are they to have only the shelter of a few trees in the days of “grass-mowing” bombs? Will you lend your voice to urge on committee and parents to provide the work. It entails no expense; and even if it did, what does money matter when children’s lives and limbs are in danger? A MOTHER. [This letter was referred to the head master of the Waihopai school (Mr A. Thomson), who said that when the correspondent wrote under her own name or wrote to the school committee or staff he would reply.]
