VALUABLE STAMP COLLECTION

DEATH OF WELLINGTON PHILATELIST (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 27. A stamp collection that some Wellington philatelists think may be the largest, most interesting and most valuable in New Zealand has been left by Mr E. H. S. Jackson, who died in Wellington last Sunday. Mr Jackson was extremely retiring and apparently no other philatelist ever saw the whole of his collection. Few saw even part of it, but he was known to have spent large sums on it. All his life Mi- Jackson was interested in stamp collecting, and when he retired it became his great hobby. He was a member of the Wellington Philatelic Society, but did not attend its meetings. His trustee is unable to make any statement about the constitution of the collection. Mr Jackson did not specialize, but was a general collector. He collected coins also.
