LARGER DRAFT NOW REQUIRED

POSTING OF MARRIED MEN (Special) DUNEDIN, February 27. A substantial increase in the number of men Gazetted in the 13th ballot to be posted to the 2nd and 3rd Battalions, Otago Regiments, is announced by the Army authorities. An alteration in the age group is also advised. It was stated a few days ago that 150 men would be called for day training service with the two battalions, but the total has now been increased to 300. In addition, the men will no longer be drawn solely from the age group 35-46, but from a group probably including men from 30 to 46. “Because of exemptions and impending appeals,” said the Otago military area commander, Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. Jeffery, this morning, “it is possible that the age group will have to be brought down from 35-46 to 30-46 in order to fulfil our requirements. At the same time it is intended to keep the age limit as high above 30 as possible.”
