FURTHER EVIDENCE AT BEDSIDE

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, January 20. Further evidence was taken at the bedside of the woman who was stabbed at Otahuhu on January 14 at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at the hospital. The accused was William Weir, labourer, aged 20, who was charged with the attempted murder of his wife, Phyllis Rose Weir, aged 26. Mrs Weir’s evidence was taken at a sitting on Thursday. Today's proceedings consisted of cross-examination. The witness, in answer to a question by the prosecutor, denied that she had ever been on intimate terms with a man before she married the accused.

The accused was remanded to appear on Monday,
