EMERGENCY FISHING REGULATIONS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, December 19. As a result of the present position in the Pacific the Government has brought down the Fishing Boats Emergency Regulations 1941 to control the activities of fishing vessels, a considerable number of which are owned or manned by aliens. The regulations embody three main restrictions: (1) The keeping of a log, which applies in the case of every fishing boat which goes to sea for more than 24 hours. (2) Fishing restricted to an area not more than 10 miles off the coast of the mainland of New Zealand. (3) Before going to sea and on return to port the master of a fishing boat must report to the authorizing officer.
