NO MORE COLOURED CHEESE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 21. As from Saturday no coloured cheese will be manufactured in New Zealand, either for export purposes or the local market, until the present state of emergency ceases. The necessary authority for the change is contained in the Cheese Manufacturing Restriction Order 1941. For some time past the United Kingdom has been taking only white cheese from New Zealand and the order has been brought down tcF obtain uniformity in manufacture as a war measure. Colouration in cheese adds nothing to its food value and it is felt that the quantity of coloured cheese manufactured for the local market was so small that it did not warrant the continuation. Moreover, if uniformity is achieved it is hoped it might result in more cheese being sent over--seas.
