BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS
ENTRIES FOR SUMMER SHOW Every encouragement would be given to children to enter their animals at the Southland summer show, stated the club organizer (Mr K. I. Robinson) at a recent meeting of the Invercargill Rural District Committee of the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association. Members expressed regret that there had not been more entries in the farm crop projects. It was reported that stock classes with calves and lambs predominating, had been well supported. The appointment of the following group supervisors as members of the district committee was approved:— Messrs E. White (Bluff), A. Jack (Roslyn Bush), L. Evans (Longbush), A. S. George (Makarewa), W. Brumby (Waikiwi), and J. Wilson (Otara, R.D.), ex officio members, Messrs K. I. Robinson (clubs’ organizer), T. Mathews (agricultural instructor), J. Camegy Gardner (president, central executive), and J. J. Blakie (vice-president). It was agreed to leave in the hands of the secretary and chairman arrangements for the appointment of representatives of the following bodies on the district committee: Farmers’ Union, Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Women’s Institute and Woodlands Young Farmers’ Club.
