GENERAL WEYGAND’S DISMISSAL
LONDON, November 20. An official Vichy statement reports the abolition of the post of ' DelegateGeneral in French North Africa, which was held by General Maxime Weygand. The General is consequently retired. According to the Vichy statement the post was not a success. It is announced that the United States is not resuming its shipments to Occupied France and to North Africa because of the dismissal of General Weygand. General Alphonse Juin has been appointed Commander-in-Chief in North Africa and General Barrau Comman-der-in-Chief in West Africa. A permanent Secretariat-General for French Afria replaces the position of GovernorGeneral. Vice-Admiral Fenard has been appointed Permanent Secretary-General for French Africa and M. Ohatel has been appointed Governor-General of Algeria. General Weygand will go to the Riviera for a brief holiday.
