The engagement is announced of Victoria Emma (Queenie), eldest daughter of Mr W. Heales, Browns, and William Brundell, son of Mr and Mrs T. Wilson, Dipton. Mrs T. E. Davis, Forth street, returns today from a short visit to Dunedin.

Mrs R. Creeser, Avenal Flats, will return today after a short visit to Dunedin.

The annual meeting of the Southland Women’s Club will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. Miss Margaret McLean, Redcliff, returned yesterday from a holiday in the North Island.

Miss Alwyn Pittaway, Lewis street, has returned from a holiday spent in Christchurch. Mrs E. R. Wilson will return today after being the guest of her daughter, Mrs Colin Story, Venlaw.

Mrs A. Grant and Mrs J. W. Cowan, East Limehills, who were delgates to the P.W.M.U. conference at Timaru, returned on Saturday night. Mrs R. Dyson was hostess at a gift afternoon at her home in Ythan street for - her niece, Miss Phyllis Bailey, whose marriage takes place next week. Competitions were won by Miss P. Bailey. At her home in Don street, yesterday afternoon, Mrs Ritchie Crawford, president of the Southland Women s Club, entertained the executive, secretaries and chairwomen of the various circles of the club.
