PROPOSAL TO ESTABLISH TELEPHONE SERVICE
The Lake County Council is making an effort to have a telephone service established at the surfaceman’s cottage on the Kingston-Queenstown road and the Automobile Association (Southland) decided to support the proposal at last night’s meeting. The council enclosed a copy of a letter forwarded to the postmaster and added that the support of the association would do much to remedy the present difficulties. In the letter to the postmaster it was stated that the council had in mind the serious inconveniences to the travelling public caused by the lack of communication on such a long stretch of isolated road.
