POOR PLAYING CONDITIONS FOR TEAMS
In contrast to the previous Saturday, conditions were not very pleasant for tennis in Invercargill on Saturday afternoon. Practically all the city clubs had already opened the season and because of the high wind the attendances at fire courts were not large. OPENING OF FIRST CHURCH CLUB The opening for the season of the First Presbyterian Church Tennis Club was held on Saturday afternoon, when there was a large attendance. The season was officially opened by the president, Mr C. C. Lange, who afterwards entertained the players at afternoon tea. A Yankee tournament was won by the Rev. J. A. Thomson and Miss Violet Herbison.
