LUMSDEN
FLOWER SHOW A splendid display of flowers was staged at the Lumsden flower show. The narcissi section dominated the tables, some outstanding blooms being staged. Mr Hall-Jones, of Invercargill, was judge of the cut flower section, Mi P. Thomson judging the decorative section. The entries in the cut flower section were down in number on previous years, but the quality was even better. Entries in the other sections were easily as numerous as in other years. Mr Hall-Jones remarked that the display of daffodils was remarkable for a small district and there was a very even display in all sections. The redcupped varieties were particularly good and the quality of the entries m the champion bloom class was outstanding. The champion bloom, a fine type of Beersheeba, reflected great credit on its grower, Mrs J. R. Smith. . Mrs Whitaker, Dip ton, who judged the industrial and school section, said that the work was of the highest standard she had seen at a Lumsden show. The farm produce and vegetables were judged by Mr T. Elder. The winners of points prizes were:— Cut flowers, Mr J. Clouston (92pts) 1, Mrs J. R. Smith (91pts) 2; vegetables, Miss H.
