BAN ON BONFIRES AT NIGHT

GUY FAWKES DAY IN INVERCARGILL Invercargill children, in common with children of other towns in the Dominion where lighting restrictions are in force, are to be denied the celebrations of Guy Fawkes Day, after sunset at least, this year. The Invercargill lighting controller (Mr A. C. Carman) has received advice from the Dominion Lighting Controller (Mi’ F. T. M. Kissel) that no permits are to be issued this year for the lighting of bonfires. It was also stated that no fires are to be lit, or rockets or other fireworks set off, on November 5 or any other night.
