NATIONAL DANCING COMPETITIONS

78 ENTRIES RECEIVED The Southland School of Highland I and Classic Dancing, which can claim ito be the oldest and largest school in j the Dominion, will stage another series of competitions- in the Victoria Hall next Saturday evening. Seventy-eight entries have been received and the public can look forward to two hours of national dancing free from any modern innovations. The trophies, which are on display in a window of H. and J. Smith Ltd., include the David Sutherland Memorial, valued at 15 guineas, for the open championship, cups for the intermediate and junior championships and also cups for most points in classes under 10 and 8 years. Mr James Smith, the first pupil of the school and winner of four New Zealand championships, will act as judge.
