Dr J. G. Macdonald left Invercargill yesterday for Queenstown, where he will spend a few weeks’ holiday.
Mr G. A. Wraytt was appointed chairman of the Southland County Council at the annual meeting of the council yesterday. The Rev. J. A. Fraser, formerly of Milton, has been appointed vicar of All Saints’ Church, Gladstone. He will be inducted into his new charge this evening by the Bishop of Dunedin, the Rt. Rev. W. A. R. Fitchett.
Mr W. A. Ott was appointed representative of the Bluff Harbour Board on tire council of the Invercargill Chamber- of Commerce at a meeting of the board last night. Mr J. A. Edwards, of Otikerama, was re-elected chairman of the Southern District Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand at the annual meeting of the council held at Gore yesterday.
Mr A. W. Jones will leave for Wellington by the express tomorrow morning to attend a conference of the New Zealand Justices of the Peace Association and a Dominion conference of friendly societies. Mr C. B. Tapley was appointed its representative on the Southland Museum Trust Board by the Bluff Harbour Board last night. Messrs G. L. Gerken and P. R. Stewart are visiting Wellington, where they are representing the Gore association at the annual Dominion conference of the R.S.A.
Captain R. J. Hamilton, of Bluff, and Mr J. H. Reed, of Invercargill, took their seats for the first time at the Bluff Harbour Board’s meeting last night. They were welcomed by the chairman, Mr W. J. A. McGregor.
