ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

A meeting of the Riverton St. John Ambulance and Home Nursing Division was held in the Council Chambers. Mrs Webb thanked Sister Murphy for giving hygiene lectures and said how much the class had appreciated the interesting details and general information she had given in the lectures. It was greatly to her credit that no one in the class had failed. Mrs Webb presented her with a bouquet of chrysanthemums and a ribbon autographed by each member of the class. At the next meeting of the group a home nursing class will be begun as well as first aid practice. Means and ways of raising funds to procure a little more equipment for the division were discussed,' but the matter was held over until the next meeting. HOME GUARD FUNDS A meeting was held recently at the home of Mrs J. A. C. Mackenzie to consider the formation of a women’s committee to assist in raising funds for the Home Guard. It was decided to call the committee the Women’s Auxiliary to the Home Guard. Mrs L. R. Austin was elected pyesideht, Mrs, J. A. C. Mackenzie secretary and treasurer, and Mesdames A, P. O’Callaghan, A. B. Helm, R. Dickson, S. Barron, L. McPhee, J. A. Lee, G. Cloughley, J. A. F. , Watson, V. Rose, J. J. Allan, H. Tweedie, H. R. Wright, J. W. Clarke

and G. McNaughton were elected to the committee. The first function io be held by the committee was a successful bring and buy sale. A sum of over £5O has been donated to the local Home Guard committee.
