BRITAIN AND U.S.A.
A remark attributed to the German Chancellor, Bismarck, was recalled by Mi’ S. M. Macalister when he was discussing Britain’s close relations with the U.S.A. in a talk to the Invercargill Rotary Club yesterday. Bismarck, said Mr Macalister, had been asked to name the most important political fact in the world. His reply was said to have been: “The northern part of America speaks English.”
