“Even at this late stage, I still consider that the almost criminal waste of public money in holding the local body elections is uncalled for, and improper,” declared the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board (Mr Allan Moody) at a special meeting of the board. “One could only wish someone in authority had sufficient courage to say, 'No, there will be no elections,’” he added.
