POSSIBLE UNION OF CHURCHES

“ft is possible that there will be a union between the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches in New Zealand in the not very distant future,” said the Rev. G. B. Hinton, of the Methodist Church, at the jubilee banquet of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Invercargill, last night. He added: “I know that some of you are against union and so are some Methodists, but some of us have bigger ideas, especially in view of the difficult days that will follow the war.” Speaking in a lighter vein, Mr Hinton said, “Some of you people who now belong to St. Andrew’s Church were born in Methodism, and I am proud to think that there is such a good leavening of Methodism in the Presbyterianism of South Invercargill.”
