RIFLE SHOOTING
INVERCARGILL CLUB The Invercargill Defence Rifle Club fired its weekly competition at Otatara on Saturday undei’ tricky conditions because of the east wind at times being of the fish-tail kind. In spite of this some of the competitors compiled some excellent scores, G. Wilson scoring 100. Mrs L. R. Lyall had rather a bad run at 300 yards, getting only 28, then at 500 yards she scored the possible 35, and 34 at 600. Her total was 97. Following are the scores:—
CITY GUARDS CLUB The City Guards Rifle Club began the first stage of the championship at Otatara on Saturday, 10 shots being fired each at 300, 500 and 600 yards. Splendid scores were registered. L. Woodful was in fine form and scored 145 out of the possible 150, which is seldom beaten at Otatara. The best aggregate scores for the day were:—L. Woodful 145, J. B. Doake 144, J. Buttolph 142, D.
