PERSONAL
The Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, will arrive in Invercargill by the express tonight from Dunedin. Tomorrow morning he will visit the Underwood milk factory and the Rosedale woollen mills. He will return to Invercargill to attend a luncheon arranged by the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce. In the afternoon he will visit the linen flax factories at Winton and Otautau. On Thursday morning the Minister will visit the Edendale sugar of milk factory and travel by the afternoon express to Dunedin. He will be accompanied by Mr L. J. Schmitt, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce.
Mr W. M. C. Denham, M.P., returned to Invercargill from Wellington on Saturday night. He will accompany the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) on his tour of Southland industries and will also accompany the chiefs of the three defence services on their visit to Southland. Air H. Miller, chief postmaster at Invercargill, begins his annual leave today. He is being relieved by Mr V. C. Lawn, senior inspector of the General Post Office, Wellington.
Mr James Wylie, advisory officer to the Justice Department under the Domestic Proceedings Act, 1939, who gave an address to members of the Southland Justices of the Peace Association yesterday afternoon, left Invercargill yesterday for Queenstown, from where he will go on to Dunedin.
Mr C. H. Gatehouse has left for Christchurch.
