SECOND DAY AT GORE WILD CAREER’S CHANCES FAVOURED Good fields have been paid up for in the second day’s programme of the Gore Racing Club’s summer meeting today. Most of the winners on the first day are engaged again and there is some new blood to make the racing even more interesting. The feature event is the Presidents Handicap, a race over a mile and a distance, and in which several smart performers are engaged. Wild Career is one of the newcomers. He has been racing well this season and a race of this description should suit him. Mona’s Song and Doubleack, winner and third in the chief event on Saturday are not engaged, but the material left in is of quality good enough to ensure a first-class race. Peony Rose will have benefited by Saturday’s race and Sparkle would have her chance here if she is not kept too far from the leaders as she was in Saturday’s race. Green Boa will tackle open company and must be given a lightweight’s chance. Those favoured are Wild Career, Peony Rose and Sparkle. The following horses may be well supported in their engagements:— MATAURA HIGHWEIGHT.—Combat, Araboa, Aspire. APPRENTICES’ HANDICAP.—Secret Flight, Knight of Old, Central Star.
