BRITISH CREDITS FOR GREECE

(Received February 9, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 8. The Athens correspondent of The Times states that M. Varvaressos, Governor of the Bank of Greece, revealed that British credits were provided to cover an expansion of the fiduciary issue, which was increased by one-third during the year ended January 31. These credits also enabled an increase in foreign exchange reserve from £6,000,000 to £18,000,000 during 1940. Britain had also greatly assisted Greece in the economic sphere, he said.
