LORD GALWAY’S DEPARTURE
Farewell Message To People SIR MICHAEL MYERS TO BE ADMINISTRATOR (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 5. A farewell message to the people of New Zealand was issued tonight on behalf of Lord Galway, who has now relinquished the office of GovernorGeneral of New Zealand and left the Dominion on his return to Great Britain. Simultaneously with his departure a proclamation was Gazetted announcing that the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, had assumed office of Administrator of New Zealand. He will act in this capacity till Lord Galway’s successor, Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Cyril Newall, arrives in the Dominion and is sworn in as Gover-nor-General. Sir Cyril Newall was recently reported to have arrived in Canada on his way to New Zealand. In a farewell message Lord Galway expressed a keen appreciation of the many kindnesses extended to his wife and himself during his six years’ resi- | dence in the country.
