A progress report dealing with the art union for the disposal of the thoroughbred yearling colt War Effort by Siegfried from Kippet Lee in aid of patriotic funds shows to date that tickets to the approximate value of £ll5O have been sold. The colt was presented to the National Patriotic Fund Board by Mr R. A. Smith, of Waipawa, and named War Effort by Lord Galway, chairman of the board. Tickets are being sold principally through racing clubs at race meetings. The progress report deals with 23 returns and of these the Wellington Club’s figures of £375 are easily the best. Another 13 race meetings will be held at which tickets will be sold before the closing date which is February 24.
