WOMAN REMANDED

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, February 5. I The unusual occurrence of a woman I being charged with robbery with violence was heard in the Supreme Court when a Maori, Materia Brown, aged 45, was charged with assaulting an Indian bottle-gatherer, Moral' Kalyan, and robbing him of £4/10/-. i Through an interpreter the Indian | said that the accused asked him into a i house at Freeman’s Bay and there asI saulted him with a beer bottle and robbed him of a wallet and its contents. I Evidence was given of the finding of i the wallet in a restaurant where the I accused had been sitting. The occuI pants of the house supported the In- | dian’s story of the robbery. Mr Quartley addressed the Court on the accused woman’s behalf. The jury, after half an hour’s consideration, found the woman guilty of robbery with violence. She was remanded for sentence.
