Escape From Russia

RED PILOT. By Vladimir Unishevsky. The Right Book Club, London. Price 2/6 for members. Vladimir Unishevsky was a military pilot in Soviet Russia. Early in 1938 he and a friend made their escape to Esthonia in an ancient machine which they had. secretly prepared for the adventure. This book tells why he decided to escape, and how he managed to elude the watchful Ogpu agents. Although it is interesting as a record of personal experience it cannot be described as an important book about the Soviet Union. Its pictures of personalities and events are heavily coloured. Impartial readers may decide that the propaganda is applied too freely, and at times too crudely.
