FRENCH CRUISER’S DEPARTURE
(Received July 16, 12.42 a.m.) OTTAWA, July 15. The Navy Minister, Mr Angus Macdonald, commenting on German radio reports that the French cruiser Emile Bertin escaped from Halifax Harbour, made a statement that the Bertin left on June 21 while the French were still fighting and with the full knowledge of the Canadians.
