STATE HOUSING IN CITY
The city engineer (Mr F. M. Corkill) reported to the Invercargill City Council last night that the Housing Department had declined to provide him with the information of the number and value of houses begun by the department during the year, although this information was essential to completing his annual building returns. “I suggest that, in future, all contractors for the department be required to take out building permits in the usual way, even though fees may not be charged,” he stated.
