TE RANGI CLUB’S MEETING DONATION TO PATRIOTIC FUNDS The Te Rangi Bowling Club decided to give £25 to the patriotic funds at its annual general meeting which was held on Saturday. The club also decided that ail members serving in the country’s defence should remain financial members while on active service and that any members enlisting before the subscription fell due should not be required to P On the suggestion of Mr M. McKenzie it was resolved to hold over the appointment of a green-keeper until later in the season and to pay weekly a sum of money equivalent to a green-keeper’s wages to the patriotic funds. Several members volunteered to carry out in rotation the duties of green-keeper until, the appointment was made. Reference to the loss the club had suffered in the death of Messrs J. Mainland, J. Soar, R. Lumsden and G. Glennie was made by the retiring president (Mr G. Streatfield), and members stood in silence as a mark of respect. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. It was decided to reduce the club’s debt to the Sports Trust to £2OO by paying £lOO from the building fund. The presentation of the centre certificates to M. McKenzie and W. Hinton as winners of the Southland Easter championship pairs was made by Mr Streatfield. It was decided that the selector should appoint a manager for every team playing in club games or in games outside the club. With a view to creating additional interest in the play it was resolved to hold a rinks competition during the season. A vote of thanks to the women’s committee for the assistance given during the year and for the highly successful efforts it had made to raise money for patriotic purposes was carried with acclamation. The following officers were elected:— President, Mr D. Burrell; senior vicepresident/ Mr G. J. Hope; junior vicepresident, Mr J. G. Holdsworth; secretary, Mr C. Hopgood; treasurer, Mr J. G. Holdsworth; auditor, Mr T. R. Pryde; selector, Mr G. J'. Hope; green ranger, Mr M. McKenzie; delegates to centre, Messrs T. Pryde (sen.), and D. Burrell; executive committee, Messrs W. Hinton, C. Marshall, W. McGill, W. Steel, A. and W. Donald.
