VACANCIES FILLED BY WOMEN

(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. A rumour that Government departments had been circularized asking how many of their employees could conveniently be replaced by women was denied by the Public Service Commissioner (Mr T. Mark), who said today that he knew nothing whatever about it. However, as part of the general policy, vacancies were being filled wherever possible by women, preference being given to wives of soldiers serving in the New Zealand forces overseas.
