NOVEL WAY TO RAISE FUNDS

GALA DAY TO BE HELD IN CRESCENT A gala afternoon and evening will be staged in the Crescent, Invercargill, on Friday, June 28 by the Southland Stock and Woolbrokers’ Association to raise funds for patriotic purposes. Various forms of entertainment and games will be held but arrangements are not yet completed. • It is expected that there will be a market at which produce will be auctioned. There will be a mock court and a tea and coffee stall. Races for children on skates and a wheelbarrow race have also been suggested. Music will be provided by several of the city bands including the Drum, Trumpet and Bugle Band of the Southland Boys’ High School. The bands as well as concert parties will entertain during the evening. The gala will be held in the public thoroughfare from which vehicles will be excluded.
