AWARUA ARRIVES AT AUCKLAND
TASMAN CROSSING MADE
IN SUNSHINE

AUCKLAND, June 13.
The Tasman Empire Airways flyingboat Awarua alighted on Waitemata harbour at 2 p.m. today after a flight of eight hours 22 minutes from Sydney. With the exception of the last few miles at the New Zealand end the crossing was made in sunshine, the flying-boat keeping at a height of 8000 feet to avoid clouds.
Captain Oscar Garden was in command. Five passengers made the flight. They were: Mrs L. F. Lowry and Messrs J. Howie and F. A. Abbott, directors of the firm of Armstrong, Abbott and Howie, N. D. Jones, traffic superintendent of Qantas Empire Airways Limited, and F. C. Allen. The flying-boat also brought 4671 b of mail and 2201 b of freight.
