Swimming Con tests Held Up

As with so many other branches of sport, the fate of the men’s national swimming championships next season is still in abeyance, the New Zealand Council having held over consideration of + he question as to whether the fixture should be held. In the event of the men’s championships being abandoned the women’s events would no doubt be held in conjunction with the intermediate and junior championships, which have been allotted to the Taranaki Centre. It was Taranaki who so successfully conducted the national championships in 1938. The secretary of that centre was Jack Devine, who did so much to assure the success of the fixture and who is now in Egypt. It is interesting to note that S. Green, who was secretary of the Southland Centre when it conducted the national championships of 1939, is also on service in Egypt.
