WEDDING
LAWSON—MILLER
The wedding was solemnized at StAndrews Presbyterian Church, Elies road, Invercargill, recently, of Helen Annie Campbell (Nan), younger daughter of Mr A. T. Miller, Clifden, and the late Mrs Miller, and Frederick George, third son of Mr and Mrs R. Lawson, Clifden. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. Gardiner, and Mrs Walter Dickson (Milton) played the organ. The church was decorated in the bridal colours by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory peach bloom satin. The bodice was gathered from an extended panel from the skirt, with gathers at the dropped shoulder -
line to correspond. A spray of orange blossom trimmed the neckline, which was cut high in the front and finished with a collar which fastened at the back with a row of tiny satin buttons from neck to waist. The sleeves were full at the shoulder and tapered to fit at the wrists with points over the hands. The skirt was cut in panels and fell to form a long train. The waist was defined by a swathed sash, which tied in a bustle bow at the back. Her embroidered veil, which was lent by a friend, was held in place by a coronet
of orange blossom arranged in tiara effect. She carried a sheaf of cream roses, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothy Dysart, Dunedin, and Miss Gwenda Salton, Invercargill, were bridesmaids. They wore twin frocks of turquoise blue waterwaved taffetas. The bodices were plain with full puff sleeves, Peter Pan collars and a row of tiny buttons from the neck to the raised waistline. The skirts were gored and fell to the ground full flare. Two velvet ribbon bands defined the waistlines. Their headdresses were coronets of blue and silver flowers and they wore silver sandals and carried Victorian posies of roses, abutilons and maidenhair fern. Messrs R. Lawson and H. Lawson, brothers of the bridegroom, were best man and groomsman respectively, and Messrs D. Miller and I. Miller were the ushers. . .. . , „ , The reception was held in the Tudor Lounge, where the guests were received by Mrs W. L. Salton, cousin of the bride, and Mrs Lawson, mother of the bridegroom. Mrs Salton wore a teal tailored costume with prunella felt hat and accessories to match and a fur. Her shoulder spray was of deep cream roses. Mrs Lawson wore a navy tailored costume with navy hat and accessories and a stole. Her shoulder spray was of red roses. For travelling,, the bride wore a brown pin-striped tailored costume, velvet turban and accessories to match, and a fur coat. Mr and Mrs F. G. Lawson will reside in Tuatapere. Before her marriage the bride was entertained at a kitchen evening by the residents of Clifden district, and a gift evening by Mrs W. L. Salton.
