WYNDHAM PATRIOTIC EFFORT
SOCIAL EVENING AT
GLENHAM There was a large and enthusiastic gathering in the Glenham Hall on Tuesday evening, when the recently-formed Patriotic Committee held its first function to raise funds for patriotic purposes. The evening took the form of a dance, interspersed with vocal items. Music for the dance was supplied by Messrs W. Brown and G. McEwan, and Mr J. Rabbidge was M.C. Songs were given by Mrs J. Robertson and Mr Bert Rabbidge, and a vocal duet by Messrs F Bulling and M. Affleck, with Miss U. Bulling playing the accompaniment. Mesdames Wright and M. Hunter accompanied the soloists and also supplied extras for the dancing. At the supper adjournment, Mr C. F. Hunter, chairman of the local patriotic committee, welcomed Messrs L. Harper and A. A. Wilson, chairman and secretary of the Wyndham committee, to the evening, and asked them to explain the regulations governing the collection of the funds, as laid down by law. Mr Harper, after acknowledging the welcome, went on to explain the method under which district committees were formed and Mr Wilson explained the financial side of the regulations. On the motion of the chairman the speakers were accorded a vote of thanks. The Glenham committee’is as follows: —Chairman, Mr C. F. Hunter; secretary, Mr R. Irwin; committee, Mesdames C. F. Hunter, J. Robertson and A. C. Bulling; Messrs D. McKenzie, J. Robertson, A. C. Bulling, S. Walker, J. Jennings J. Bruce, A. W. Rae, T. Thwaites and J. Rabbidge. RIFLE CLUB SHOOT There was a good attendance at the weekly shoot of the Wyndham Rifle Club and several new members were present. The A grade button was won by E. Christianson with J. T. Mitchell run-ner-up. The handicap button was won by A. Muir. L. Woodsford again registered a possible in a practice shoot. Scores were:—E. Christiansen 78.5-3-79.6; !J. T. Mitchell 77.4-3-79.5; J.
