All parcels sent to Egypt through national patriotic channels were duty free. “Enclosed you will find £5 in notes, which I would ask you to . accept as a donation to the local patriotic funds, stated a letter from a person signing himself, “A Cheerful Giver.”. “I shall have the greatest pleasure in increasing this amount to £lO, provided nine other town people will come forward and give £lO a head within the next fortnight, which will add a further £lOO to the patriotic fund. This donation is, of course, in addition to the weekly contribution I shall make, and I shall naturally expect that the remaining donors of £lO will of course adopt the same principle.” .
