HUNGARY WARNS SLOVAKIA
ALLEGED PERSECUTION OF MINORITY BOTH CONFIDENT OF NAZI SUPPORT BUDAPEST, May 30. The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Count Stephen Csaky, strongly warned Slovakia against persecuting the Hungarian minority of 160,000. “Slovakia should not attempt to play off Germany against Hungary, because Hungary trusts to the stability of Hungaro-Ger-man friendship,” he said. “All must recognize that Hungary will act if and when it is advisable not under provocation. Slovakia must understand that we shall defend the rights of Hungarians.” Slovak diplomats described Count Csaky’s warning as nonsense. They insist that the Germans will support Slovakia. They deny the maltreatment of Hungarians and compare it with the treatment of Slovaks living in Hungary. DUTCH NAZI REFUSES TO FIGHT AMSTERDAM, April 30. Dr Anton Mussert, the Dutch Nazi Leader, created a storm by an interview with an American radio commentator in which he declared that the Dutch Nazis would not intervene on either side if Germany invaded Holland. He added that, as the National Socialists were excluded from commissions in the Army they could not be expected to fight for the Queen.
