MINERS MEET TODAY
Mr Menzies Awaits Decision THREAT TO USE FREE LABOUR (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright) (Received May 1, 10.50 p.m.) CANBERRA, May 1. The Federal Labour leader, Mr J. Curtin, today conferred with the Coal Mine Union leaders, who are returning to Sydney for their meeting tomorrow. He strongly urged them to induce the miners to return to work as an essential condition of their dispute being taken up by the Arbitration Court. The Prime Minister (Mr R. G. Menzies) later told the House of Representatives that the Government would wait until tomorrow afternoon for the decision of the miners’ executive before introducing regulations to reopen the coal mines with free labour.
