Man Marooned In Tree

An unusual call was received by the Wanganui Fire Brigade when it was summoned to assist a man who was marooned in a tree on St. John’s Hill. The man went up to gather cones and dislocated his shoulder. As he was in danger of losing his grip and falling, a policeman climbed the tree and supported him until a fire-engine arrived and a ladder was run up. By tying a rope round the man and lowering the ladder, he was brought to the ground with little difficulty.
