APPOINTMENTS IN RESERVE BANK

RETIREMENT OF CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

(United Press Association)

WELLINGTON, May 1.

The Reserve Bank announces that as a result of the retirement of the chief accountant, Mr H. W. Welsh, because of ill-health, the following appointments have been made as from May I:—Mr W. H. Eggers, appointed chief accountant: Mr R. W. Cox, appointed deputy chief accountant. In addition, Mr A. Ross has been appointed a deputy-chief cashier. For many years Mr Welsh has been associated with the management of the New Zealand Government Debt, first with the Treasury, and, since 1936, with the Reserve Bank, when the management of the debt was transferred to that institution. His relinquishment of the post will be widely regretted by his many friends throughout the Dominion and also by all those with whom he came in contact.
