RETIRED FARMER RUN OVER BY TRACTOR

INJURIES PROVE FATAL (United Press Association) TIMARU, May 1. As a result of being run over by a tractor an elderly retired farmer, David James Young, residing at Colombo street, Christchurch, died in hospital at Timaru today. Young was visiting his son-in-law, H. Talbot, of Rangitira Valley. He went to assist Talbot, who was pinned against a shed when the tractor moved backwards. When it started, apparently having been left in gear, Talbot got clear and reached the gears ahead of Young, who, when leaning over the machine, apparently put the gear forward instead of into neutral. Young was dragged, the machine passing over him. He was admitted to hospital and died early this morning.
