Telegrams From Wellington

A MAGNIFICENT PERFORMANCE

Telegrams praising highly the performance of the Southland Boys’ High School drum, trumpet and bugle band at the Wellington Anzac Day services have been received by the rector (Dr G. H. Uttley). A message from Major H. W. Slater, who is in charge of the band, stated that all the members of the party were well. The following telegram was received from the Hon. W. Perry, Dominion president of the Returned Soldiers’ Association: “Band superb. School and province should be proud of it. My association thanks you most sincerely.”

Mr W. D. Shelton, of Gore, who was in Wellington, sent a telegram as follows: “Only one word describes the boys’ performance on Anzac Day; Magnificent. Returned soldiers and civilians alike are thrilled. Congratulations.”
