PRICE FIXED FOR TUSCAN WHEAT

(United Press Association)

CHRISTCHURCH, April 27.

The Government has decided to fix the price (of wheat for the 1941 harvest at 5/9, f.0.b., grower’s nearest port, for Tuscan. In making this announcement the Minister of Supply (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) thanked the wheat-growers for their efforts in the past and for the crop produced in 1940, which was nearly sufficient for the Dominion’s requirements. He wished speck."/ to thank the growers who had responded to his appeal after the outbreak of war. The Minister said it appeared that, provided the weather he!d, an even greater area of wheat would be sown for the 1941 harvest. He had been greatly cheered by the receipt of many personal letters from wheat-growers advising him of their intention to increase their sowings this year.
