BANKS’ TOURNAMENT AT OTATARA
The annual golf tournament of the staffs of Southland banks was held at Otatara in fine, sunny weather yesterday, the links being in first-class order. The main event, the “Bobby Bums” Cup, which went to the player with the best net aggregate for two rounds, was keenly contested, the winner being J. Miller with 77-72-149. N. R. Milson was second with 75-75-150. A Stableford handicap played in the morning was won by M. S. Tansley (Gore) with 32-3-35. Next in order were J. W. Fleming, 12-22-34; S. A. Bell, 28-5-33; E. A. Jenkins, 24-8-32; N. R. Milson 19-13-32. In the afternoon a four-ball bogey handicap was played, the best cards being: A. B. Caverhill and J. Miller, 2up; M. S. Tansley and J. W. Fleming, 1 up; N. R. Milson and N. E. J. Jolly, 1 up; A. H. J. Wyatt and H. Gresham, 1 up. Mr S. A. Bell presented the trophies and congratulated the successful competitors. He also thanked the Invercargill Golf Club for the use of its course. QUEEN’S PARK LADIES’ CLUB To celebrate holing out in one last week, Mrs C. J. McEachran, a member of the Queen’s Park Ladies’ Golf Club, presented a trophy for each grade in yesterday’s match. Mrs McEachran performed this week at the twelfth hole (Polygon). The first qualifying round for the Rose Bowl was played in conjunction with yesterday’s match, the best cards being as follows:— Senior.—Mrs D. W. Robinson, 93-11-82 Junior.—Mrs R. Field, 106-26-80; Mrs L. Larcombe, 109-28-81.
C. Grade.—Mrs S. Keen. The winner of a match played on Saturday morning was Miss Deegan.
