OTAUTAU CLUB’S MEETING

Interesting Card To

Be Presented TRIPLE CONE HAS PROSPECTS INDIAN WRACK WILL HAVE HIS CHANCE Fine weather is promised for the postponed meeting of the Otautau Racing Club which will be held at Invercargill today. While the track will be on the dead side it will provide good going and racing of an interesting character is assured. The card has filled quite well and while there will probably be several scratchings, as a number of horses claim two engagements, the material is available to provide an excellent day’s sport. Nightwings, on the strength of a good winning performance at the Vincent meeting, will probably start a good favourite for the Otautau Cup. Her chance will be enhanced by a heavy track but Wild Career, Peony Rose and Mona’s Song are all in the right order to make a great race of it. The Crown Handicap has drawn an excellent sprint field and speculation is certain to take a wide range. Ortyx and Spendthrift are a very likely pair but the top-weight, Waitoru, who has

won in his last three starts, and Bay Duke will make an interesting race of it. The steeplechase field is not a big one but a first-class contest is promised. The single pool system of betting will operate and the first race will start at 12.15 p.m. Horses in forpi are: RINGWAY HANDICAP.—TripIe Cone, Aspire, Strathalbyn.
